Tanner Frick of The Voice Season 26

His audition: Tanner Frick, 26, Manchester, Tenn., “Thought You Should Know” by Morgan Wallen: Tanner’s nerves showed early in his performance, but as soon as he hit the chorus and showed off the rasp in his voice, the chairs started turning. As in all four chairs. Gwen Stefani complimented Tanner’s original sound. Michael said he’s friend with Black Shelton and loves classic country music. Reba McEntire said she was most impressed when Tanner unleashed his Chris Stapleton growl. Snoop noted he was the first to turn. Tanner decided to join Team Reba.

Here’s more about Tanner:

* He’s a country artist from Brandon, Mississippi, who now lives in Manchester, Tenn.

* In fact, according his Voice bio, he maintains the water system for the city of Manchester.

* During his bio segment on the show, Tanner explained that he’s a maintenance foreman, a sometimes dangerous job. “I’ve been electrocuted. Quite a few times.”

* The same bio says music has long been one of Tanner’s passions, but he was taught early that it wasn’t a practical career choice.

* His stepbrother Garrett, who is cheering on his Voice appearance, introduced Tanner to guitar at age 13.

* Tanner has since performed at social events and some bars, but never in front of more than about 125 people.

* That hasn’t prevented him from accumulating a pretty impressive following on social media. His TikTok has more than 6,000 followers.

* You’ll find dozens of country covers there. A cover of Bryan Martin’s “Wolves Cry” appears to be among the most popular and Martin is clearly among Tanner’s favorite artists.

* Quizzed by the coaches, he said his other musical inspirations include Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings and, of course, Reba McEntire.

* Tanner said he picked his audition song because Morgan Wallen got his start on The Voice and has now become one of the biggest names in country music.

* Though he hasn’t released music, Tanner’s also posted snippets of originals there, including a song called “Blue Collar Man” that you can check out below.

* The Voice bio says Tanner’s wife Madison has been encouraging him to follow his passion for music. They live on two acres in Tennessee with their three dogs. Tanner’s hobbies include hunting and fishing.

* Says Tanner: “You’ve got to chase your dreams. I’d love to stop doing physical labor and do what I love (for a living).”
