Michael Lynche showcasing new music from debut album

Since finishing fourth on Idol back in Season 9, Michael “Big Mike” Lynche has shed 90 pounds and welcomed a second child, Kingston Michael.

Now he’s preparing to release a post-Idol debut album.

In fact, he’s premiering music from the album at an event this evening in St. Petersburg, Fla.

A single from the album — “Who’s Gonna Love You More” — is available on iTunes, and I’ve embedded a video that includes part of the song below for your listening pleasure.

A video for the single is likely soon, and the album has a release date of Aug. 14.

That’s more than two years after his appearance on Idol, but Michael told The Huffington Post speed wasn’t his primary concern when it came to releasing new music after his stint on Idol.

“My label, Big3 Records, were really supportive of me making the record that I wanted to make,” he says in an interview you can read here. “There was no time limit on when I needed to have things done by. It was really a supportive process that I could be as creative as I wanted to be, and really say the things that I wanted to say from where I am in my manhood at this time. I love making this record, I felt like I’ve written the best songs that I’ve ever written, on this album and I’m super pleased with it.”

He’ll become just the fifth member of the Season 9 cast to release an album since Idol. That list also includes Lee DeWyze, Crystal Bowersox, Casey James and Siobhan Magnus. Tim Urban and Lacey Brown have released EPs.

Now, the promised video.
