Looks like Daughtry’s “September” never will hit number one on Billboard’s adult contemporary chart.

For nine straight weeks, the song was parked at the number two spot behind Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are.”

This week, one of the top two got dislodged … and it wasn’t Bruno.

Katy Perry’s “Firework” is the new number two song on the adult contemporary chart; “September” gets bumped to number three.

Oh well, it was a great run for Chris and the guys. The song has been on the adult contemporary chart for 33 weeks. And shows no sign of leaving anytime soon.

The other highlights on the Billboard music charts this week:

* Mandisa’s new album came out Tuesday. And the lead single took another big jump on the Hot Christian singles chart, jumping from number six to number three.

* “Where You At,” Jennifer Hudson’s lead single off her new album, nudges into the top 10 on the Hip-Hop/R&B singles chart and jumps to number 18 on the dance/club play chart. But it appears destined for a mediocre performance on the main singles chart, the Hot 100. Last week, it was number 64. This week: 74. Ouch.

* Crystal Bowersox’s debut album dropped out of the Billboard 200 for the first time since its release 15 weeks ago. Which means it stayed on the chart longer than the debut album from Season 9 winner Lee DeWyze.
