Fans of Brooke White — count me among them — are going to have to wait a little longer than expected for the release of her first post-Idol album, “High Hopes & Heartbreaks.”

The album was originally set for release on June 2, Brooke’s birthday. Instead, the album will come out on July 21.

Brooke explains the delay in a blog she posted Thursday.

“I can tell you right now that making a record is a huge endeavor with a checklist as long as my blogs… and I wanted to be involved on every level of making this record, including a very time-consuming art project that I have been carefully crafting with my own two hands. Long story short, I didn’t make the deadline in order for it to hit the shelves by June 2.

“Why? Because my heart is so wrapped up in this process and I’m a perfectionist… so if that means taking another month or so to get it right, then so be it. So please forgive me for the wait.”

Brooke will be releasing the CD through June Baby Records, a brand-new indie label she formed with Randy Jackson and Carl Stubner, head of Sanctuary Artist Management.

Yes, you read right, Randy Jackson. The Idol judge is executive producer of Brooke’s album. According to a press release issued Thursday, it’s his first project with a former Idol contestant.

“I wanted to work with Brooke from the moment I met her,” Jackson says in the release.

Brooke had a hand in writing all of the songs on the record, including the single “Hold Up My Heart,” which she performed on one of the Idol semifinal shows earlier this year.

She says her goal was “to create a very free-flowing, adventurous type of record. I wanted it to have the feel of a classic, timeless album.”

In her blog, she also promises that a new single from the album will be released very soon.

Which I take to mean before the new July 21 album release date.
