The song is called “Dopamine” and is intended as a warning against the dangers of addiction.
On the chorus, Jaron sings “you don’t need dope / you just need dopamine.” Dopamine is a neurotransmitter in the brain associated with feelings of euphoria.
To press home the message, Jaron has posted stats on his Instagram about the number of people affected by opioid and heroin addiction and a confessional from his grandfather about alcoholism.
Jaron is from Shelby. N.C. He was 29 when he auditioned for The Voice, landed a spot on Team Blake Shelton and advanced to the knockout round.
The past week turned out to be a busy week for new post-Voice music. In addition to Jaron’s new release, TSoul’s post-Voice debut single, a new song from Alisan Porter and a new music video from Elia Esparza, Voice fans can check out the following.
* Raquel Castro uses her voice to spin up another house single. This one is called “So Much More” and comes as a collaboration with ONEDUO. Since appearing on Season 1 of The Voice at age 16, Raquel also landed a part on the FOX series Empire. And in an Instagram post this week, she informed fans that she’s working on a debut EP she hopes to release this summer.
* Tim Atlas has racked up more than 23 million streams on Spotify since appearing on The Voice Season 9. Last week, he released “Hold Up,” his latest single. And he promises fans an EP will be coming next. Tim also recently dropped the music video for “Dizzy,” a single that came out earlier this year. Also check out the dates on Tim’s summer tur, which includes two stops in the UK.
* Aaliyah Rose was one of the first contestants under age 15 to audition for The Voice. That was in Season 12. She’s now the voice behind “Warriors,” the theme song to the animated Netflix series “She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.” Season 2 started Friday and the song is available on iTunes and streaming services. The teen also just released a new collaboration with Jordan James called “So Difficult.”
* Nick Hagelin and Paxton Ingram, Season 10 standouts, team up to deliver a summertime vibe on “Good Time,” their new collaboration. “Catch me tryna be sexy in Spanish,” writes Paxton, who’s now using the stage name PXTN. He was Top 8 in Season 10; Nick finished ninth. And for good news updates on Nick’s son Bash, who was born with arthrogryposis, just check out Nick’s Facebook page.
* Joe Kirk from Season 7 has released an impressive new single called “Thing Called Love.” It follows “Loving You and Losing You” as his second single of 2019. He also recently released a music video for that song. Joe’s debut EP, “All I Know,” dropped last summer.
* Brittnee Camelle from Season 6 has a new hip-hop single out called “Whole Mil.” Judging from her Instagram, it’s going to be followed by a smoke-filled music video. “I’m giving you all ALL sides of me. Unapologetic about it too!” she writes there about her new music. Brittnee released a “Disruptive Behavior” EP back in 2016. Note that the new single comes with an explicit lyric warning.
You can check out Spotify snippets of all the new songs below. The links above take you to the songs on Apple Music.
