The video, of course, is for his American Idol coronation song, “Beautiful Life.”

And Nick appears to be celebrating a beautiful life in it, enjoying a last night out with friends before setting off to make his dreams of musical stardom come true.

Of course, the question of whether or not Nick will be able to turn an Idol victory into success on the music charts remains to be seen.

Though it was picked up as a theme song for the women’s world cup series, “Beautiful Life” hasn’t turned into the kind of monster first single former Idol winner Phillip Phillips scored with “Home.”

Saturday, it was 96 on the iTunes pop chart singles chart. It debuted at number 93 on the Billboard Top 100 and cracked the Top 40 pop and adult pop charts, but you won’t find it near the top of either now.

A release date hasn’t been announced for Nick’s debut album. The last two from Idol winners — Caleb Johnson and Candice Glover — were flops in terms of sales.

Nick thinks he might have better fortune because he’ll be releasing his debut album under Scott Borchetta’s Big Machine record label.

“This guy is not a guy who likes to lose,” Nick told The Fort Myers Florida Weekly in an interview you can read here. “He’s a very, very competitive guy.

“You know, he put himself out there this year, and he really did have to put his money behind this and I am signed to him. So he wants this to work just as much as I want this to work, and that’s so huge to have that.”

Meanwhile, Nick will be performing the single every night as part of the Idol summer tour.
