But the 20-year-old neo-soul artist from the Chicago area was more than happy to detail how it all went down when the auditions were filmed last October.
That’s especially true since her performance of “On and On” by Erykah Badu landed her a spot on Team John Legend, which is precisely where she said she hoped she’d land in her bio clip.
“I had a lot of fun throughout the whole performance,” Oliv told Voice Views.
“It was brave song choice, because this show doesn’t usually do songs like this. In the full version, I kept the beginning of the song the same as the original arrangement. After the bridge, I made the song my own by scatting some words and that was when John hit his button
“Overall I feel extremely grateful for this experience, from the amazingly talented people I’ve met, to the amount of growth I’ve made while working with John and The Voice vocal coach.
“This is something I never thought I would do, but pushing myself out my comfort zone is proving to be something I should do more often.”
Oliv honed her musical abilities through a music collective in Chicago called Freesole and is a full-time musician.

The blind auditions on The Voice conclude Monday.
