During a conference call with the media Friday afternoon, the ego known as Astro said he was humbled by The X Factor experience.
Nothing that followed made those words ring true.
He wouldn’t talk about the tantrum he threw on the results show two weeks ago, saying he didn’t want to focus on the past and “negative energy.”
He didn’t want to talk about his doubts about being in the bottom two that week, though he had shown no hesitantcy in expressing those doubts in tweets to his fans.
He said the X Factor experience was great, gave him a taste of the celebrity life and that he “wouldn’t change a thing.”
Hmm, does that include the tantrum?
Yeh, he has a girlfriend named Molly who he mentioned on the results show, but that’s all he’d say about her. To quote Astro: “That’s all people need to know right now.”
He hopes his success on the show prompts other hip-hop artists to audition next year. “That would be awesome,” Astro said.
And does he really believe he was the low vote-getter this week?
“I still don’t understand how you can have most followers on the show and get the least amount of votes,” Astro said. “But it is what it is. I’m focused on a positive energy. As long as the astronauts stick with me, I’m straight.”
Then, in the rudest thing I’ve experience in three years of doing conference call interviews with ousted contestants on Idol and The X Factor, he cut the call short.
“I have to wrap it up,” said Astro. “Because I’m doing an interview. I have to wrap it up. Like right now.”
Hey, kid, what do you think you’re in the middle of?
And with that, Astro was gone.
Any astronauts who want to know what’s next for Astro had better head elsewhere. I simply don’t care.
But X Factor should learn a lesson from the Astro experience: Dump the divas with the attitudes in boot camp.
We don’t need them polluting our TVs with their negative energies.
Rap that, Astro.
