And it’s the lead single for an upcoming album, “Road to Rome,” now available for pre-order.
Sarah made it to the Top 20 on The Voice. The new single premiered earlier this week on Rolling Stone’s website.
“‘I Work for Me’ is about more than just bossing up and doing for yourself,” Potenza told the site. “It’s saying, ‘Hey, I work for me, as in, my body, my spirit, my personality, who I am. It all works for me.’
“‘I Work for Me’ is my dedication to those who told me I wasn’t good enough. What I have come to know is that what they really meant to say was, ‘How dare you believe that you can, when I don’t dare believe that I can?’”
The “Road to Rome” album is due out March 8, and Sarah will perform the songs on it at a show at The 5 Spot in Nashville on Tuesday.
Signed copies of the album are available through her website, where you can also check out Sarah’s other upcoming shows, which include a week-long gig on a Melissa Etheridge cruise this spring.
“Road to Rome” will mark the second solo album for the former Sarah and the Tall Boys front woman since The Voice.
Her first, “Monster,” made Voice Views’ list of the Top 5 post-Voice albums of 2016.
Here’s “I Work for Me.”
