When Scotty McCreery sang the national anthem at the World Series Wednesday night, he became the fourth Idol to perform the honor.
And only the second to do it for game one of the series.
Previous Idols to sing the national anthem during the World Series include Clay Aiken for game one of the 2003 series between the New York Yankees and Florida Marlins; Carrie Underwood for game three of the 2007 series between Boston and Colorado; and Kelly Clarkson before game three of last year’s series between the Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants.
I haven’t seen any tweets from Scotty since the game began, but pre-game, he sent out this message to fans: “Sitting here watching Chris Berman and the ESPN crew in St. Louis! I am sooo pumped to be singing the anthem tonight!”

I am a HUGE Scotty fan, and needless to say, I HAD to watch him sing! I think he did amazing! I’m kind of upset that his mic didn’t work at first.. They should’ve had made sure it worked, but these things happen…. I enjoyed reading this blog post about him singing… 😉
