Syesha Mercado is keeping a secret and it has to do about new music.
The third-place finisher from Idol season seven is answering questions for fans in her MySpace blog. So many questions that she had to break them into two separate blogs that were posted this morning.
Naturally, her fans want to know about new music.
After all, season seven followers just got albums from Michael Johns and Brooke White. CDs from David Cook, David Archuleta and Kristy Lee Cook had already been released. And Carly Smithson just joined a new band.
Syesha?
“I am working on a music project,” she writes in response to one fan’s question. “Secrets will be revealed in months to come. I am so excited.”
Syeshaonline.com should be up next month and will include updates and exclusive videos about the aforementioned music project.
And, of course, Syesha continues to prepare for the role of Deena Jones in the theatrical version of “Dreamgirls,” which is scheduled to land at the Lyric Theatre in Baltimore from Dec. 16 to Dec. 27.
Among Syesha’s answers to other fan questions …
* Fantasia Barrino and Jennifer Hudson are among her favorite former Idol contestants from before season seven;
* Her favorite album at the moment is Brooke’s “High Hopes & Heartbreak.”
And then there’s this.
Question: Other than singing/acting, what other goal do you want to accomplish?
Syesha: “To start a Lupus Foundation. My oldest sister has battled with Lupus since the age of 15, and I want to help fund research for a cure or start my own foundation. I also want to help raise awareness about the AIDS EPIDEMIC. My grandmother on my Dad’s side passed away from AIDS. I want to be a voice through my music as well as my humanitarian acts. Since I was a little girl I always wanted to help others. I grew up with little, so I know what it is like to be in need. I know what it is like to see people I love suffer from incurable deceases. I want to use my success to help those in need be it financial or health.”
