Taylor Hicks' new DVD Whomp at the Warfield.

Good news for Taylor Hicks’ fans.

The season five Idol champ has released a live concert DVD, “Whomp at the Warfield.” The concert was recorded in May 2007 at the Warfield Theatre in San Francisco.

The DVD features live performances of 10 songs of Taylor’s first album, including “Gonna Move,” “Give Me Tonight,” “The Deal,” “Soul Thing,” “The Maze,” “Right Place,” “Runaround,” “Wherever I Lay My Hat,” “Just To Feel That Way” and “Heaven Knows.”

More importantly, there are six songs you won’t find on either of the post-Idol albums Taylor has released to date — “Heart and Soul,” “Hold on to Your Love,” “The Fall,” “Badge,” “Naked in the Jungle” and “My Friend.”

The DVD is available at Barnes and Noble, Best Buy and Fry’s, according to Taylor’s Web site.

Of course, Taylor continues to tour the country playing Teen Angel in “Grease.”

If you missed the show when it landed in Baltimore last year, you have another chance to see it nearby come February.

“Grease” will stop at the National Theatre in Washington, D.C., from Feb. 9 to Feb. 21. Sixteen shows are planned during that time, including two shows each Saturday and Sunday. (Mondays are off days for the cast.)

Looks as though tickets range from $36.50 to $96.50 depending on the day and time of the show you plan to attend. You can go to the National Theatre Web site here for more information on tickets.

One of my colleagues at The York Dispatch caught the show in Baltimore and said Taylor treated fans to an impromptu performance of some of his music at the end of the show.
