The Voice returns Monday night with the second half of the playoffs.

For Season 23, The Voice split the playoffs over two episodes, in fact, over two weeks. Members of Team Blake and Team Chance performed Monday night.

And that’s not the biggest change this spring.

That would be the fact that voters, for the first time ever, will have no choice in who advances.

Monday night, the five remaining artist from Team Niall will perform.

Then Niall Horan will pick two artists to advance to the semifinals, set to air May 15.

The remaining artists from Team Niall include Gina Miles, Michael B. Williams, Ross Clayton, Tasha Jessen and Ryley Tate Wilson, who got to set out the knockouts thanks to the playoff pass.

Personally, I think giving Ryley the playoff pass was a strategic mistake. He’s young, relatively inexperienced and needs all the time on The Voice stage he can get.

My favorite vocal during the knockouts from Team Niall came from Michael B. Williams, who was phenomenal. Though you have to give credit to Tash Jessen for her dynamic performance.

She drew a tough knockout assignment, going up against Noivas, one of the show’s front-runners, from earned Niall’s lone knockout steal.

Here are the Team Niall performances from the knockouts.
