Well, The Voice is changing up its live playoff format again.

Live voting is back and every remaining contestant — all 24 of them — will perform Monday night.

Wow, that’s going to be interesting for a show that has so much talk and coach time that it has to montage performances during the blind auditions, battle round and knockout round.

Here’s how it will work per an NBC press release.

* Monday: All 24 singers will perform. Live voting will take place during the show. The top vote-getter from each team will advance to the Top 12.

* Tuesday: The remaining five members of Team Alicia Keys and Team Blake Shelton will perform.

* Wednesday: The remaining five members of Team Adam Levine and Team Kelly Clarkson will perform. At the end of the show, another artist from each of the four teams will be announced as advancing based on fan voting. Then each coach will save one remaining artist from their team, just as they’ve done in the past.

Voting will be via The Voice app and Twitter. And West Coast fans are welcome to vote, but they have to do it on East Coast time.

More on what I think about all of this will be coming in a future blog. You can be sure of that.

You could also write a blog being critical of “Idol” this season.

For example, how do you feel about viewer voting being taken away until the Top 14 this season?

Viewers used to be able to vote from the Top 24 on.

I think it’s manipulative and unfair.

    Mark,
First & foremost, I would like to thank you for your blog page.
I’m wondering how I’m supposed to vote on Live performances on East Coast time when I’m on West Coast time? The broadcast will not have even aired. Do you have any suggestions? We all like the “competition changes” like the Block, Save, etc. but the Voice is cutting us out of the 1 on 1 & “Coach-Advisor-Contestant time” a BUNCH & repeating previously aired information about each contestant; which bugs the crap out of me & the 22 people that listen & watch when possible. Getting to know an artist is easy if someone has the time. I wish we could see the producingeach coach puts into their team & we miss that! Voting on Live shows in East coast time has us all confused. It wont have
aired on Pacific time yet. Does that mean voting on west coast aka California time won’t be counted?

    Thanks again,

Anna: First off, I think the live voting is STUPID! They have 3 nights of airtime. They could have two teams sing Monday, two sing Tuesday, keep the normal voting windows and make Wednesday a result show. As it is, fans on the West Coast will have to vote on East Coast time without hearing a single performance. Because, hey, that’s the best way to pick THE VOICE. What a joke. Anyway, presumably The Voice will send out tweets that the voting window is open. Then West Coast fans head to Twitter or The Voice app and vote. There will be special Twitter codes for each contestant. I presume the Tweets will reveal those as well. So you’ll presumably have to watch your twitter feed between 5 and 7 p.m. West Coast time and vote when told to. I hope to get the official voting rules and blog again between now and Monday about this.
