The Voice just paid the price for a horrific Season 27 format: the lowest ratings ever for its season finale.

While The Voice’s ratings bounced back a bit since it was no longer going head to head with American Idol, the show didn’t even win the night on Tuesday.

The distinction went to “FBI International” on CBS as The Voice posted just a 0.29 rating among 18 to 49 years olds, a full point lower than the final rating for last spring.

What’s more, that show’s total estimated audience dropped from 6.11 million last spring to 4.25 million this spring, a staggering 30 percent increase.

The news was marginally better for Monday’s performance finale, in which the Top 5 performed for fans’ votes.

That show won the night with a 0.36 rating and an estimated 4.79 million viewers.

But both of those numbers still marked a decrease from Season 26, which aired last fall, and Season 25, which aired last spring.

The Voice started Season 27 about a month earlier than recent spring seasons. And with no Tuesday night episodes until the final two weeks and no format changes to adjust, that meant top contestants disappeared for a month at a time.

Add hand-picked semi-finalists, recap shows and a silly and unnecessary Super Save gimmick, and it’s little wonder fans lost interest.

And the finale ratings were just the latest bad news for producers of The Voice. The show went head to head with American Idol seven Mondays this spring and lost the ratings battle every week, by more embarrassing margins as the season wore on.

The Voice has announced a coaches lineup for a fall 2025 season, but made no such announcement for next spring, though the fall and spring seasons have been filmed back to back during summer months in recent years.

Is anyone surprised by the dismal ratings “The Voice” this season?

Viewers are getting fed up with the gimmicks.

    The blathering of the coaches.

    Recap shows-ridiculous.

Hand picked semifinalists–that makes “Idol”s stacked groups and Wild Card manipulations not as apparent as they used to be.

Contestants disappearing–how are viewers supposed to know whom to vote for, let alone who any of these performers are?

The coaches for the next season announced before the winner is crowned.

People cite Morgan Wallen as a “success story” from “The Voice.”

He has stated that the producers/coaches made him sing pop, when he wanted to sing country.

John Oliver asked his audience last season if anybody knew any of the winners of “The Voice.”

    The crowd was silent.

You’ve pointed out other issues that other “Voice” recappers either ignore or downplay.

    Contestants montaged.

Knockout rounds shown out of order–whomever performs first gets the saves and steals.

You’re honest about your grades and why.

No coronation song-here’s your trophy and that’s it.

Alumni ignored-except for a random winner at the finale.

The show promotes the coaches careers–they become household names.

Carson Daly is a cipher-as much as I dislike Ryan Seacrest at least he has a personality.

Nobody involved with the show cares anymore-not the network, not the coaches, not the host.

    It’s all about money.

From what I’ve heard, some of these issues you mention about are not limited to the U.S. version. Other countries have similar problems, specifically with the celebrity coaches being more well-known than the winners.

In the UK version, the public no longer votes. It’s now the studio audience who votes.

Once Adam dismissed the true winner Briton Moore there was no reason to watch the rest of the season

Also, America’s Got Talent is on TV for the summer, if anyone watches that.

      More terrible twists.

I don’t want to post spoilers here, but I read on another website, that “The Voice” has more manipulations this upcoming season than ever.

That says so much about a show that was supposed to focus on the contestants, not the coaches.

The shark has not only jumped on “The Voice.”

The shark is doing back flips, as well.
