The song is called “Speechless,” written in Brooklyn, N.Y, but recorded in Stockholm, Sweden.
TSoul shared the story behind the song with Voice Views, saying he wrote the initial version of “Speechless” with songwriter Jaron Smith in 2012.
After The Voice, he traveled to Sweden to work on music at the invitation of Johan Hirvi, a member of the Platinum selling Swedish band Panetoz.
TSoul said Johan introduced him to six “amazing produceers” during a week of studio sessions that marked the beginning of what will become his next album.
Upon leaving Sweden, he began working on the project with producer Moe Denebi.
“I presented what I had of ‘Speechless’ to Moe, and he loved it and began to play the guitar melody you hear,” TSoul said. “We recorded the idea I had and then Moe and I created the bridge.
“After listening to the finished project, I knew it was time to release this song to the world as a proper reintroduction that #TSouldiers new and old would appreciate.”
The single was released on the label Greater Good, created by TSoul, Moe and Johan. The album will likely follow next year, with more singles released in between.
The new album will be TSoul’s fifth. Next year marks the 10th anniversary since of debut album, “Love and Music,” which included “Best of Me,” his biggest hit to date.
Since The Voice, TSoul also performed in the Dominican Republic and toured Australia twice with the California Crooners Club.
He also recorded an album with the latter group, which includes Australian actor Hugh Sheridan, Johnny Manual from America’s Got Talent, Emile Welman and Mayia Sykes from The voice Season 7.
TSoul, from Richmond, Va., was 29 when he auditioned for The Voice Season 12 and landed a spot on Team Blake Shelton. Praised for his soulful and heartfelt vocals — also evident on the new single — he wound up finishing Top 8.
