Simone Marijic is back.

Well, not on The Voice. As a singer who didn’t make the playoffs, I’m pretty sure she’s not even eligible for the Super Save the show announced Monday.

But Simone is back with new music. Her debut EP “The Hearkening” landed a week ago.

If you asked me to name one singer who should be brought back to The Voice, I’d name Simone. In a heartbeat.

Her glorious cover of “She Used to be Mine” in the knockout round was a Voice moment. My favorite performance from the entire season. The type of emotional performance that vaulted Gina Miles to the title back in Season 23.

Inexplicably, coach Michael Buble didn’t advance Simone, a new member of his team, awarding the knockout win to Barry Jean Fontenot instead.

Simone has since posted two heartfelt messages about her time on the show.

And on April 30, she dropped “The Hearkening,” a five-song collection. EP closing “Twenty One” is probably my favorite.

Writes Simone on Instagram: “I have never been more proud of something I’ve created than I am of ‘The Hearkening.’ Every second of this record feels purely like me and my heart in its entirety.

“Each song was written over the past few years, and it’s so weird because so much has changed about who I am and what I want since that time.

“But I listen now and I still feel everything I felt when I first wrote them in waves and waves. I hope you listen and feel everything too.”
