The finals, The X Factor

X Factor Results: Stacy goes home; Astro shows why he should have

0

In an hour, we’ll be down to nine contestants on The X Factor.

Who will be the show’s Rock Week victim?

LeRoy Bell is my pick.  Not because he did the worst last night.  Far from it.

But because he performed first on a two-hour show that moved at a snail’s pace and because all of the comments from judges who weren’t his mentor pretty much said the same thing: You aren’t $5 million prize worthy.

In my mind, LeRoy has one of the best voices on the show.  But, given his age and the demographics of the voting fanatics on a show like X Factor, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has trouble mustering support.

Besides, Rock Week was when American Idol lost one of its best voices earlier this year.

Remember Pia Toscano.  Sorta like LeRoy in a way.  Fantastic voice.  Just lacking the pizzazz that seems to mean so much on a show like this.

And so the fun begins. Now this would have been a fine song for one of the contestants to perform last night.

Oops, think LeRoy Bell missed his line, huh?

This week, we get results early in the show. Through to next week …

* LeRoy Bell. Wow, so much for my guess on who would be eliminated.

* Lakoda Rayne makes it through.  Great news for Paula.

Stacy Francis and Chris Rene just got a little nervous.  LeRoy and Rayne were two of the four I thought might be in trouble tonight.

Stacy and Chris are the two who should be in trouble.

Give the producers credit for announcing those two survivors first.  They’ve just built more suspense for followers of some X Factor favorites.

Now, after a Rihanna break, more results on The X Factor.

* Chris Rene makes it through. Hmm.  Things are getting more interesting.

* Melanie Amaro makes it through.  As she very well should have.

* Josh Krajcik makes it through.  Again, he should have.

* Marcus Canty survives Rock Week.  Not all that surprising.

So, we’re down to Astro, Rachel Crow, Stacy Francis and Drew Ryniewicz.  If there’s any justice, the bottom two will be Stacy and Rachel.

* Drew advances. As she very well should have.

* Rachel Crow advances.  Hmm.

That means Astro and Stacy Francis will have to perform save-me performances.

No way Astro deserves this fate.  And, folks, there’s no way he’s going home.

Stacy: Kiss X Factor, goodbye.

But she performs first …

Stacy Francis: She’s going to sing “Amazing Grace.”  Guess the save-me songs don’t have to fit the theme of the week. Very nice glory note near the end, but I’ve heard far more special performances of that song.  Grade: C.

Astro: He’s rapping to “Never Can Say Goodbye.”  With his own lyrics, of course.  Not sure what that “should I perform” bit was about.  And he seemed to coast through the end of that song with a who-cares attitude that doesn’t make him more likeable. Grade: B-

Now it’s up to the judges, or maybe not.

L.A. Reid gives Astro grief for a lackluster performance. But he votes to send Stacy home.

Nicole votes to send home Astro.

Paula votes to send home Stacy.

Simon votes to send home Stacy, after giving Astro grief about his attitude.

Wow, Astro just pulled the biggest attitude we’ve ever seen on the stage during one of these singing competitions.

SEND HIM HOME, X FACTOR VOTERS.
