She also released the music video for the title track, which chronicles her journey from aspiring young artist to an 18-year-old with a record contract and 3.5 million followers on Instagram.
That music video has been viewed 1.6 million times in 48 hours.
By numbers like that are nothing new for Zhavia. “Candlelight” and “100 Ways,” two early singles from “17” are approaching 14 million and five million streams on Spotify.
And the EP was number nine on iTunes R&B/Soul albums chart Monday morning.
The music video features Zhavia walking the streets of her hometown of Norwalk, Calif., and having Norwalk tattooed on her right arm.
“My upbringing wasn’t always easy,” Zhavia told People. “I went through a lot of struggles, but for me, it just inspired me to write songs that will help my fans get through the things that they’re going through.”
The “17” EP features six songs, all of which Zhavia had a hand in writing. The other two previously unreleased songs on the EP are “Ez” and “All I Am.”
Here’s the music video for “17.”
