Here’s more about Emma:
* Her father was a military pilot, sometimes deployed to Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia. His frequent absences prompted Emma to write music and she was thrilled he was able to watch her audition.
* Emma told Voice Views she’s always known she wanted to become a singer, but it wasn’t until attending college that she “decided to get serious about making it happen.”
* She led worship at a campus ministry at the University of Alabama and, during the summers, led worship at a Christian camp in northern California.
* That led to the recording of an EP in Nashville. As Emma Warren, she released the four-song Christian EP “Pursue” in 2017. Emma said she raised $10,000 for the project and penned two of the songs with her producer.
* “The songs came to us so naturally and we had so much fun creating my EP,” Emma told Voice Views. “At that time, I wasn’t living in Nashville. But being there and recording only made me more certain that Nashville was, without a doubt, where I wanted to be after school.”
* After graduating from the University of Alabama in 2017, Emma has since made that move. She said she was performing at songwriter rounds and writing with various artists prior to The Voice. With the pandemic shutting down performance opportunities, she said “The Voice opportunity came at the perfect time for me.”
* Emma said the next music she releases will be in more of a country/singer-songwriter vein. “I am excited to show people how much I have grown musically since my first EP,” she said.
* As for her choice of audition song, Emma said: “I love Kacey Musgraves and her music. Her musical style is definitely one that I feel is also my own and it’s something I am working towards. Secondly, I love the meaning of the song Slow Burn; because it’s written about enjoying the highs and the lows of your journey, not necessarily taking the fastest route to your destination. I feel it’s a song that most everyone can relate to and for me as an artist, it’s important to choose songs that my audience can see themselves in – and relate to their own lives.”
* Emma said her decision to join Team Blake was based partly on something he said that didn’t air on TV. “He emphasized the importance of the relationships an artist forms in Nashville because country music is an industry built on relationships. Blake then said that he wanted to start a relationship with me that night. … I feel that Blake can help me to navigate the music industry outside of The Voice and I think he really understands where I want to go as an artist.”
