Danny Gokey and Koryn Hawthorne collaborate on a new single, We All Need Jesus.

Danny Gokey released “We All Need Jesus,” the first single from his upcoming Christian album on Friday.

And it features a special guest, former Voice contestant and current gospel star Koryn Hawthorne.

“I wrote this during the pandemic, during the political upheaval and we we saw such unrest in our country,” Danny says in a video message to fans. “And I just literally said, ‘God, write through me.'”

When it comes to the political divide, people tend to get righteous and stop talking to one another or considering other’s opinions, Danny adds.

“Jesus came to set the bar,” he continues. “We are nothing without Jesus. God’s morality is so high, his purity is so high, it makes our righteousness look terrible.”

There’s also a music video for the song, which you can check out below. It also features Koryn, who Danny calls “a legend” in his message to fans.

Twice-nominated for a Grammy, Koryn was a finalist on Season 8 of The Voice. She’s back on top of the gospel airplay chart with her single “Speak To Me.”

Danny finished third on Season 8 of American Idol, behind Kris Allen and Adam Lambert.

He’s also been nominated for a Grammy, and his first three Christian albums all debuted at number one or number two on Billboard’s Christian albums chart.
