Ranking the Top 12 on American Idol

2

Wondering what’s up next on American Idol?

Well, Sunday night, the newly revealed Top 12 will perform Oscar nominated songs.

The show will feature live voting, with a Top 9 revealed at the end of the show.

The logic behind that baffles me, since the show will be on again Monday night.

I’m not a big fan of live voting because it often works to the disadvantage of West Coast contestants since the show winds up airing at odd hours there.

Then, on Monday night, Idol unveils that regrettable twist, bringing back 10 singers from Season 18 to compete for a final spot in the Top 10.

Voting for that honor will last an entire week.

Okay, does that make any sense, folks?

Voting for the contestants we’ve been following all season last two hours. Voting for contestants we met a year ago lasts an entire week.

Did everyone in Idol production land lose their marbles during the pandemic? I’m beginning to think so.

Anyway, the Sunday and Monday shows featured some amazing performances. Check out the song-by-song blogs for videos if you missed any of those.

So here’s how I’m ranking the Season 19 American Idol Top 12. The number in parenthesis is their ranking last time around.
