Fans don’t seem to be embracing The Voice’s new Battle of Champions format.
Meanwhile, American Idol seems to have picked up viewers with its move from Sunday night to Monday night.
The latest TV numbers show American Idol recorded a 0.4 rating among 18-49 year olds for its Monday night episode, which featured performances from the first half of the To 20.
That’s the same rating the show drew for its first voting episode of Season 23 last spring.
But Idol’s total audience for Monday’s show was estimated at 4.7 mlllion, up 21 percent from last year’s 3.88 million.
Over at The Voice, the Battle of Champions is turning into the battle of chumps.
In addition to getting trounced by Idol in the ratings each week, The Voice’s year over year numbers are abysmal.
Last spring, The Voice’s first battle round episode scored a rating of 0.4 among 18-49 year olds with 5.47 million viewers.
Monday’s first battle round episode of Season 29 recorded a 0.24 rating with a total audience of 3.04 million. That’s a whopping 44 percent year over year drop.

Nobody cares anymore. Not the producers, not the host , not the coaches.
The viewers are getting wise to the gimmicks of “The Voice”
For those people who still are watching the show, they are going to feel ripped off by the end of this season.
Count me among those who do not like this current iteration of The Voice. No chemistry among coaches, don’t like the format and, most of all, it’s too much Voice overall in too short a period of space between the last iteration with Michael, Niall, Reba and Snoop (which I LOVED, BTW!), but this one with Kelly, Adam & John came right on the heels of the previous airing and it doesn’t begin to compare in any way, shape or form. Sorry, but this is a big “L” for me.
