Meghin Moore, writing for Onward State, reports that the crowd “went insane” when David took the stage after opening act Carolina Liar.

“By that, I mean that many of the older women in the bleachers went slightly more crazy than their college-aged counterparts.”

And, apparently, the fun was just beginning. David ripped his leather pants at one point in the set, ducked behind his drum set for a repair job after some banter with the crowd, then reappeared with duct tape holding his pants together.

“Duct tape does it,” David joked when he reappeared at center stage.

David’s set list included a mix of songs from his first and second albums. From “This Loud Morning,” he performed “The Last Goodbye,” “Hard to Believe,” “We Believe,” “Paper Heart,” “Right Here with You,” “Goodbye to the Girl” and “Fade into Me.”

He also covered Billy Joel’s “Movin’ On” and mixed “Kiss on the Neck” with “Hotel California,” a combo he’s performed several times in the past. Video of both is included below.

David did not mention the wardrobe malfunction on Twitter. He did send out the following message:Â “Just finished up an amazing first night! Special thanks to Penn State for helping make it great.”
