The focus will be back on the members of Team Blake and Team Christina Monday night on The Voice.
And if you were just getting used to having a say in who stays and who goes, be forewarned: Viewers’ opinions will matter less this week.
But, hey, it’s all for the sake of drama.
If you’re confused by The Voice’s always changing and slightly unorthodox format, here’s what’s in store of this week.
* The four singers from Team Christina — Lindsey Pavao, Chris Mann, Jesse Campbell and Ashley De La Rosa — will each perform a solo song.
* The four singers from Team Blake — Jordis Unga, RaeLynn, Erin Willett and Jermaine Paul — will each perform a solo song.
* The members of each team will also perform a number with their mentor.
* Adam Levine will join Maroon 5 in a performance of their first single (“Payphone”) off their upcoming fourth album.
* We’ll get a sneak peak at Justin Bieber’s new video. Because, after all, this show is all about the “voice.”
* In what NBC is billing as a “shocking instant elimination,” Christina and Blake will each boot one singer from the competition Monday night.
* We’ll get to vote for the remaining three until 10 a.m. Tuesday.
* On Tuesday night, the top vote-getter from each team will advance.
* Then the other two contestants will sing for a judges’ save.
* At the end of the week, Team Blake and Team Christina will have been whittled down to two contestants each.
Now you see what I mean about viewers’ opinions mattering less at this stage of the competition.
Last week, we got to choose three of the four contestants who advanced.
This week, one contestant from each team will be eliminated before viewers get to cast votes.
And those votes will determine only one of the two survivors.
Hey, that’s what happens when you have gimmicks like “shocking instant eliminations” and an hour-long results show to fill with something on Tuesday night.

I was very disappointed when I heard a couple of days ago, that there would be instant eliminations by the coaches. First of all I felt that the coaches already had done their job by their eliminations in the battle rounds and their job now was to save one person they felt deserved it. My first thought was “They are going to eliminate the person the just saved last week, because who in there right mind would eliminate their top three people”. I also thought the viewers are going to hate them.
As I watch the show tonight, and I heard each contestants story again, I thought how could the judges eliminate one of these people? Anyway, I would have done exactly what Blake and Christina did.
