In case you missed it, country music star Bucky Covington appeared on “Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader” Wednesday night on CMT.

And despite fessing up to being “a lazy student” during his school days, Bucky did pretty darn well. Certainly a whole lot better than fellow season five Idol contestant Kellie Pickler did during her rather infamous appearance on the show.

With the help of three fifth-graders, Bucky answered nine straight questions correctly, raising $25,000 for the Arthritis Foundation.

Then Bucky called it quits, deciding to take that amount rather than risk giving the wrong answer on a $250,000 question dealing with U.S. history.

Along the way, Bucky proved he knows a little about Leonardo da Vinci, what an exponent is in a mathematical equation and where chihuahuas hail from.

Of course, he did need a fifth-grader’s help to pinpoint the European country where the Black Forest is located.

His answer: Amsterdam, which is a city, not a country. The correct answer: Germany.

Don’t know what it is about these country music stars and European geography.

Poor Kellie, thought Europe was a country, figured Budapest was the capital of France and just couldn’t believe Hungary really was a country.

As for Bucky, why did he choose to play on behalf of the Arthritis Foundation?

Glad you asked. Seems his mom was diagnosed with rhuematoid arthritis when he was in fifth grade.

Bucky filmed the “5th Grader” segment before his performance at the York Fair. In case you missed it, he talked about the show and his upcoming album in this interview with Idol Chatter.
