Kris Allen is now a daddy.

He and wife Katy O’Connell had their first child, a boy, on Tuesday.

Kris tweeted about the good news — “Happy Day!!!! My little stud was born today. Oliver is here people!”

Full name: Oliver Neil Allen, and he entered the world at 7 pounds, 7 ounces and 20 3/4 inches long, according to US Weekly, which broke the news.

Kris also distributed a photo of himself wearing hospital scrubs as the happy couple awaited the baby’s arrival, writing: “My outfit for the day. The best outfit I’ll ever wear.”

Kris, of course, won Season 8 of Idol. He and Katy, high school sweethearts, have been married since September 2008.

You’ll recall at one point a certain judge encouraged Kris not to mention having a wife during his run on Idol, for fear it would affect the number of votes being cast for him.

Kris also announced the pregnancy to fans via Twitter in January, after he and his wife had been in a car accident.

“Thank you, Ford, for equipping me with a car that kept my whole family and the little one we have on the way safe,” he tweeted. “Yes, I got in a really bad wreck tonight, and yes, I’m having a lil baby.”
