Kris Allen plans to release his third post-Idol album sometime this year.
The Season 8 winner of Idol confirmed that news during a live chat with fans Tuesday.
It’s one of a number of chats Idol has organized to help promote Season 13, which begins next week with two-hour audition episodes Wednesday and Thursday.
Kris tweeted today that he was heading to a studio in Nashville for the first recording session for the new album, which will follow 2012’s “Thank You Camelia.”
Why Nashville, one fan asked.
Replied Kris: “I’ve written most of the songs in Nashville, and I’m working with a producer who i am really excited about.”
That producer is Charlie Peacock, who has produced both albums released by The Civil Wars, including “Barton Hollow,” which took the 2012 Grammy for Best Folk Album.
Kris told fans he isn’t sure when the new music will be released but expects the recording process to be completed by the end of the month.
What should we expect?
“Great songs with creative production and the next step in my songwriting,” Kris replied.
