Fans of David Archuleta got the news they’d long been waiting for Monday.
The runner-up from Season 7 of American Idol is home.
David has spent the past two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
He served in an undisclosed location in Chile and performed at a pair of Christmas concerts at the Santiago Chile Temple during that time.
You can check out his December performance, where he sang four songs in Spanish, here.
No word on what David’s plans are now that he’s back home, but you have to think music will be involved.
After all, the last two years brought more music from David than many former Idols who were still in the states. He released: “Begin,” an album of covers, in August 2012 and the appropriately titled “No Matter How Far,” featuring previously unreleased tracks, last March.
Whatever his musical direction, David is sure to find plenty of support from one of the most dedicated fan bases in Idol history.
The Fans of David (FOD) website continued to operate during his two-year absence and his own website is filled with messages from appreciative fans welcoming him back to the U.S.
A fan registered as HushCats pretty much summed up the general sentiment writing: “Oh happy day! @DavidArchie is home!”
