Kris Allen will release a new album, “Horizons,” next month.
Pre-sales begin tomorrow (July 8) on iTunes. Those who pre-order get an instant download of the first single, “Prove It to You.”
And it’s a tender and lovely first single, featuring harmonies by a Russian singer named Lenachka and proving that you don’t have to be recording for a label to make great music.
Ah, yes, this is also Kris’ first album since parting ways with RCA.
He recorded two albums with that label after winning Season 8 of American Idol, including the under-appreciated “Thank You Camelia” in 2012.
Kris told Yahoo Music that things went very smoothly making the album on his own.
“I think the biggest thing is, (this album) just feels personal, you know? The songs all started from ideas that I had, and all the lyrics feel like they came from the heart.”
Yahoo has also premiered the lyric video for “Prove It to You.” Head here to check it out.
The lyric video is clever; the song is even better.

Thank you for this very lovely review of Kris Allen’s new single “Prove It To You”. I also found that the lyric video was done very cleverly. I enjoyed all the little items within the video and how they were used. The two voices, Kris’ and Lenatchka’s, blend beautifully together and the song is rather pretty. Both voices are melodious and I always enjoy hearing Kris sing in his falsetto voice.
