And by midnight, the song was already number 14 and climbing on the iTunes Top 200 singles chart.

And when voting ended at noon EST, “Take Me to Church” was up to number five, which makes Matt the first artist this year to earn bonus points toward staying on The Voice.

The other most popular songs early on in the iTunes download race also stemmed from two of Monday’s standout performances. Craig Wayne Boyd was at 11 with “You Look So Good in Love” and Damien was at 12 with “He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother.”
