Two — Sawyer Fredericks (again) and Joshua Davis — landed in bonus points land.
Yep, the same Joshua Davis who needed an instant save to get to this week’s show.
That means five different Voice singers — those two plus Koryn Hawthorne, Kimberly Nichole and Meghan Linsey — have cracked the iTunes top 10 at some point since the finals began.
Add it all up, and you have an unpredictable race to the finals — whether that consists of three or four singers.
Well, except for the fact the Sawyer Fredericks will be there competing for the Season 8 crown.
Tonight, two more singers head home, and iTunes results (head here if you haven’t seen them) indicate Meghan, Koryn, India Carney and Hannah Kirby are most likely to be singing for a save in the final minutes of tonight’s show.
We start off the night with Jason Derulo performing with Kimberly Nichole and India Carney helping out. As soon as the song is over, the results start. We’re also going to get musical performances tonight from Lee Brice and Rozzi Crane. Rozzi performs “Psycho” solo. But Lee is going to get a hand from Corey Kent White.
So here we go. Singers who have made the Top 6 include:
* Joshua Davis (Team Adam): That’s what making the Top 10 on iTunes will do for you.
* Sawyer Fredericks (Team Pharrell): Lots of suspense there, right? The 16-year-old advances again.
* Meghan Linsey (Team Blake): Thrilled to see she made it without needing to sing for a save.
* Kimberly Nichole (Team Christina) Excellent job, voters. No way she should have to sing for a save either.
* Koryn Hawthorne (Team Pharrell): OK, remember that opening. The iTunes results weren’t the greatest indicator this time around.
That leaves India Carney, Hannah Kirby and Corey to compete for the instant save. Corey has a Twitter army at his back.
Hannah Kirby (Team Blake): She’ll perform “Radioactive.” Hannah got off to a bit of a rough start, but quickly recovered and performed like a woman possessed for the last half of that song. Really nice glory note at the end, too. Grade: B
Corey Kent White (Team Blake): He’s performing “I Wanna Love Somebody.” Nice song choice, but this isn’t exactly a vocally challenging song. And Corey is struggling a bit with pitch, as he has throughout this competition. Little surprised to see him in this position, given all the support country singers get on The Voice. Grade: C+
India Carney (Team Christina): She’ll sing “Human.” The backing track for this is very distracting, and India didn’t sound very strong on that opening verse. Naturally, her voice swells with the chorus. This young woman has tons of vocal firepower. Not one of my favorite India performances. Grade: B–
I liked Hannah’s performance the best. India is probably the best singer of the three. Corey has the biggest fan base.
So this should be interesting.
Judging from the graphic on the TV screen, Hannah is heading home, and India and Corey are locked in an incredibly tight race for that instant save.
And the instant save goes to: India Carney.
Carson said it was the closest vote ever.
