Corey Kent released ‘Blacktop,’ his first major label album, on Friday.

Corey Kent from Season 8 of The Voice has released his first album as a Sony Music artist.

It’s a 10-track project called “Blacktop” and features his signature hit, “Wild As Her,” which now has nearly 100 million streams on Spotify.

As for that album name, Corey explains on his social media.

“When the world shut down a few years ago, and I could no longer put food on the table by playing music, I went to work for a pavement company in Dallas, Texas. And even recorded a few of the songs on Blacktop while I was still working there.

“I also called it Blacktop because that feels like where we’ve spent the most time over the last two and half years, pounding the pavement and playing club after club in Texas and Oklahoma (and beyond) every weekend since January 2021.”

He isn’t exagerating. In late May, Corey posted that he’d already performed more than 100 shows in 2023.

As of Sunday afternoon, “Blacktop” was sitting at number 11 on the Apple Music country albums chart.

And “Something’s Gonna Kill Me,” his latest single, has more than 3.5 million streams on Spotify.

Corey celebrated “Blacktop’s” released with a sold out show at the Brooklyn Bowl in Nashville.

Corey will be touring with Jason Aldean this summer. That tour includes stops at Merriweatherr Post Pavillion in Columbia, Md. (July 27) and Hersheypark (Pa.) Stadium (July 28).
