And he’s launched a Pledge Music campaign to help fund the endeavor.
James is the contestant who pleaded with fans to give metal a chance on Season 10 of Idol. He wound up finishing fourth behind Haley Reinhart, Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery.
Post-Idol, he released his promised rock album, “Memories of a Beautiful Disaster” to a Top 40 debut on the Billboard 200 in 2011.
He followed up with the far more pop-ish “Celebrate” last April. It featured a great lead single in “Parachute,” but wasn’t as much of a commercial success.
Now it’s time for album number three, and James is encouraging fans to help “bring the rock,” saying he’s ready to get “back to my rock roots.”
“I’ve been working on these new songs, and I promise that they’ll rock harder than anything I’ve done before,” James, now 26, says in his Pledge Music campaign. “This is some of the best music that I’ve made, and I can’t wait to share it with you.”
He’s offering some rather interesting rewards to contributors, including James Durbin skate decks and a chance to take him on in a one-hour XBox challenge.
With more than 30 days left in the campaign, James is already nearly 40 percent toward his fund-raising goal. You can find out more by heading here.
