The song is called “History” and hit iTunes earlier this week. It’s also probably the most pop-sounding song Lauren has released to date.
The song will be used by ESPN to help promote its college football coverage along with a pair of tunes from Imagine Dragons – “Roots” and “Dream.”
“For a southern girl, college football is everything,” Lauren said in a press release. “I am so pumped to have my song used for ESPN’s college football coverage.”
Known for her sense of humor, Lauren also thanked ESPN for “giving me something to make my boyfriend, dad and brother think I’m that much cooler.”
The runner-up on American Idol Season 10, Lauren enjoyed a good deal of success with her debut album, “Wildflower,” back in 2011.
Since then, she’s released just two songs – a single called “Barefoot and Buckwild” in May of 2013 and a Christmas song last December.
Part of the reason for the long layoff was vocal cord surgery that sidelined her for about a year.
And, don’t forget, Lauren will be one of the performers on the Great Country Radio Stage again this year.
Making at least her fourth appearance in York, she’ll perform on the Grandstand at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20.
Admission to that show is free with admission to the fair.
