Her audition: Hanna Eyre, 15, of Laguna Niguel, Calif., auditioned with Taylor Swift’s “Blank Space.” She got a quick chair turn from Adam Levine, who called her “miraculously talented.” By the time the song ended, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton had turned as well. Blake praised her charisma. But Hanna opted to join Team Adam.

Her background: Hanna says her family loves The Voice and her dad surprised her by signing her up to audition. She says she the oldest of four children and tries to be a good role model for her siblings. At age 5, her mom asked Hanna if she wanted to learn piano. “I said, ‘Yes, let’s do this.'” She’s now surpassed her mother’s skill level. For the past three years, she’s been teaching piano to about a dozen students. “But my real passion,” she told The Voice, “is singing and songwriting.”

What the show didn’t show:

* She comes from a musical family. According to her bio on The Voice website, her father sang in a barbershop quartet and her paternal grandfather played music with The Osmonds and several jazz artists.

* She is enrolled in the Orange County School of the Arts where she focuses on commercial music. She’s part of MONTAGE!, a school-based musical group that performs throughout the community.

* Hanna lists her major influences in her Facebook bio. They include Alicia Keys, Joss Stone, Sara Bareilles, and Kelly Clarkson.

* She also describes her musical style as R&B/pop.

* A singer-songwriter, she’s posted demos of three of her originals on her website. You can check out two other originals below.

* Her vocal teacher challenged Hanna to write her first song when she was just 11. She wound up writing 20 songs that year, according to the Facebook bio. One of those songs won first place in the music category and first place overall at the 2013 TEDx Bommer Canyon competition, Mind the Gap.

* Her Facebook bio also indicates Hanna hopes to attend Brigham Young University (BYU) for her undergraduate degree and Juilliard for her graduate degree as she continues to pursue a future in music.

* Why Adam? Hanna explained in a conference call with the media this week, saying: “When the coaches were giving me feedback, what really stood out to me about Adam was that he didn’t just give me compliments. He actually gave me something that I could work on, and I really respected that about him. And I thought I’d really love that in a coach.”
