Troy Ramey has made it through two rounds on The Voice.

His next goal: Show fans that he can rock.

“Everything that I’ve done has kind of been in the mid-tempo, slow jam section, which is right up my alley,” Troy told Voice Views during a conference call earlier this week.

“But I kind of want to show people that I can really let it loose. And so I’m hoping that will come together in the next round.”

That next round — the knockouts — will begin Monday on The Voice.

As for his battle round match, it was montaged, meaning viewers got to see just a few seconds of it on the show.

He performed “Angel Eyes” with Team Gwen Stefani colleague Jozy Bernadette.

“Singing a duet is not something that I do every day,” Troy said. “It’s actually something I’ve never done before so that was a challenge trying to figure out how to connect to the song and also connect to the person that you’re singing with.

“Fortunately, Jozy and I have become great friends and we believe in each other while we were singing. And I really think that we made a beautiful performance out of Angel Eyes.”

“One of the things that I really loved about working with Gwen and Celine is that they really, from the beginning, just let me kind of be myself and they seemed to really trust my instincts and loved what I was doing.”

But that didn’t make it any less nerve wracking when the battle ended, the coaches’ comments were completed and Gwen had to decide who to advance to the knockouts and who to cut loose.

Troy said he and Jozy already knew all the steals were gone and that the singer Gwen didn’t pick would be eliminated.

“When they said my name, I kind of just stood there in shock because it was a really stressful moment,” Troy admitted.

Jozy, from North Dakota, had been one of the last singers to land a spot on Season 12. The daughter of former NBA player Glenn Hansen, she had previously tried out for The Voice in 2015.

Troy, from Sea Cliff, New York, was 32 and turned four chairs with his blind audition performance of Cat Stevens’ “Wild World.” He spent five years as a member of a band called In Like Lions before going solo. As a solo artist, he’s released an EP and four singles.
