If that’s the case tonight, Brennley Brown, Lauren Duski and Hunter Plake should be standing on stage tonight feeling pretty relaxed.
That’s especially true for Brennley, the 15-year-old who just topped everyone on iTunes and scored the highest charting hit of Season 12 so far.
And who should be nervous?
Mark Isaiah, the Pennsylvania pop singer, is the only member of the Top 12 who didn’t crack the Top 200 on iTunes.
And Lilli Passero, also of Team Adam Levine, was the lowest charting member of the Top 12 who did, landing at 133, nearly 60 spots behind Troy Ramey.
Lilli might have another concern. She’s from Los Angeles; one would suspect much of her fan base is too. If she and Mark wind up in the bottom two together, he’ll have the edge because his hometown fans will be watching the show live.
And Carson is wasting no time getting down to the results.
Advancing to the Top 12 are:
* Brennley Brown: Oh, my, did you hear that squeal. Careful, Brennley, you’re going to need that voice for the next month.
* Jesse Larson: Good job, voters. He did the best job of anyone on Team Adam last night.
* Lauren Duski: Again, no surprise. Brennley and Lauren finished two and three on the country singles chart today.
Hey, The Voice, very nice tribute to Christina Grimmie. Christina’s team released the “Side B” EP on Friday and more new music is coming.
Also advancing on The Voice:
* Vanessa Ferguson: Well-deserved. She closed the show in strong fashion last night.
* Aliyah Moulden: Team Blake’s youngest advances too.
* Lilli Passero: Wow, she survived illness and the ill-advised “Man! I Feel Like a Woman.” Uh-oh. Some other contestants are really worried now.
* Chris Blue: If it wasn’t for Voice fans love of country music, he just might be the favorite to win Season 12.
Not thrilled to see G-Eazy performing on The Voice. So many past contestants have great new music out in 2017. We recently got new singles from Brendan Fletcher, Jake Worthingon, Luke Edgemon and Brittney Lawrence.
Gabriel Wolfchild has a new EP out. You need to hear his fabulous “Shipwreck” and “Runaways.” And Gigi Rich — not her name on The Voice — delivers a brilliant vocal on a song called “Still Want You” from her new EP. It’s one of my favorite post-Voice songs of 2017.
Also advancing on The Voice:* Hunter Plake: No way Hunter was going anywhere considering how well he’s been doing on iTunes.
* TSoul: Wasn’t thrilled with the way he handled that song choice — “Always on My Mind” — but it got him through to the Top 12.
* Stephanie Rice: Whew. Thrilled to see Stephanie make it. She’s one of the singers I’m eager to hear post-show music from.
That means Troy Ramey and Mark Isaiah will have to sing for the instant save. Come on, folks, Mark’s time is up. It was clear again earlier tonight in that group performance.
Alas, Mark is saved, receiving the first instant save of Season 12.
And that means Troy Ramey exits The Voice Season 12 in 12th place. Sure he’ll have new original music out in the not-too-distant future.
