Emily Luther’s blind audition on The Voice won’t mark her first appearance on national television.
Back in 2011, she and a fellow Berklee College of Music student recorded a duet of Adele’s “Someone Like You” for a Perez Hilton cover contest.
It became a YouTube sensation. Next thing, Emily knew, she and the fellow student were invited to perform the song on The Ellen Show, then found themselves signed to Ellen’s eleveneleven label.
Flash forward six years. That fellow student, Charlie Puth, is a pop sensation. Emily Luther, 25, is still waiting for her breakout moment.
In a 2016 interview with All Access Music, Emily said she’s been in Los Angeles working on finding her own sound and her own lane in the music industry,
“I’ve been presented some opportunities and walked away from some opportunities because they didn’t feel right or they didn’t feel like they were going in the right direction,” she said. “I’m all about what feels like it really connects with the artist I want to be.
“I’ve been hunkering down and just getting to know what I want to say in a song and working with people. Intentionally, somewhat staying out of the spotlight until I feel like it’s time to put myself out there.”
Apparently, she’s decided that time is now.
The voice surely isn’t a problem. Check out Emily’s amazing cover of Carrie Underwood’s “Little Toy Guns” below. It’s one of three songs featuring Emily’s vocals that were released in 2015 by Keep Your Soul Records. The others: “Conquerer” from Empire and a “Love Me Like You Do” duet with Jake Coco.
Emily does not hail from a musical family. Her mother is a nurse; her father has an engineering degree and works in sales.
But the young woman from Woonsocket, R.I., told The Berklee Groove that she played a mouse in Cinderella at age 9, performed in her first professional theater production at age 11 and has wanted a career as a singer ever since.

Emily being eliminated was the biggest travesty ever in Voice she was hands down best this year
Adam Levine calls Blake Shelton stupid. Adam, look in the mirror. You are the one who is stupid for letting Emily go. Just like Jordon, Emily could have won the Voice this season. She is the whole package: flawless voice; beautiful; great stage presence; Adam what is your problem. You could have won with Emily. Shame on you.
BIG mistake, for sure, but let’s not forget…Jennifer Hudson came in seventh in American Idol and she did alright……….
Emily Luther is the best singer I ever hear
Adam is the most bigger LOOSER in History of Music
EMILY LUTHER has the voice of an Angel
