Jacquie Lee, now just Jacquie, has released the third single about her transformation from teen pop star to independent singer-songwriter living in L.A.

Post-show, she signed a record deal, sang a track for a Disney nature film, dropped an EP and seemed destined for a career as a pop singer.

Today, she’s simply Jacquie, a 20-year-old determined to exercise more control over her music and trying to break out as an independent singer-songwriter.

And she traveled the length of the country — 2,700 miles from Colts Neck, N.J., to Los Angeles — to do it.

On Friday, Jacquie dropped the third song about that transition. It’s called “For You.”

But don’t be fooled by the title. She told Billboard the lyrics are ripped from her journal and that they represent a message to herself.

That message: You have to be your own rock. You have to hang tough. And you have to deal with the anxiety the move created.

“‘Running from your heavier problems, that is something that is a habit for me,” Jacquie says in the Billboard interview. “And I don’t even realize that I run from my problems, and I suppress them, and so it all comes crashing down.

“But I’ve realized that it is OK to be anxious or feel lost in life. All of that is normal, and you’ll get through it. My music, at least this EP, is kind of a journey from start to finish of the realization of that.”

Yep, that EP mention means there’s more music coming. Jacquie hopes to release it this fall.
