Of course, that’s what happened.

The Voice seldom does anything to promote past contestants.

So when it does, it’s only natural that the project fizzles.

I’m talking about Neon Dreams, of course, the Vegas show The Voice was helping create that would showcase past stars of the show.

The show has been canceled, a casualty of renovations that are taking place as The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Vegas is transformed into a Virgin Hotel property.

Here’s the official statement: “In light of recent developments regarding the scope, timing and impact of the construction and renovation plans for the transformation of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino into a Virgin Hotel property and our unsuccessful efforts to find a way to adjust either the show or the construction plans to make both viable, the decision has been made to cancel the production of The Voice: Neon Dreams.

“We are grateful to our partners who have worked tirelessly in the creation of the show and are regretful that we are unable to continue forward with the project as originally envisioned. Refunds for prior purchases can be obtained at point of purchase.”

You’ll take note of the words “as originally envisioned” in that statement. The Las Vegas-Review Journal reports that Base Entertainment, producers of the show, are scouting around for other possible locations.

To recap, Neon Dreams was originally supposed to open this summer with Season 13 winner Chloe Kohanski joining past stars Alisan Porter, Mary Sarah, Matt McAndrew, Chris Mann and Matthew Schuler.

Then came word that construction of the theater being built to host the show was behind schedule and that the show wouldn’t open until mid-September.

Because of the schedule change, Chloe would be unable to participate in the launch of Neon Dreams, but would participate at some future date.

We’ll see. The Neon Dreams website is still active, but my hunch is that the only Neon Dreams performance we’ll ever see featuring the original cast was the promo performance they did on Season 13.

For those who forget, I’ll embed it below.
