in his exit interview, Season 15 contestant Jake Wells said he planned to release a song called “The Other Side” about his Voice experience.
That song landed this week and is available on iTunes, Apple Music and Spotify.
In an Instagram post, Jake says he wrote the song about “what it’s like to feel the pressure, to feel the loss, to feel the success and to feel the excitement and to feel the joy and the trauma and the disappointment and the fear” of being a contestant on the show.
Jake, 23 when he auditioned, landed a spot on Team Adam Levine with his blind audition cover of “When the Stars Go Blue>”
He advanced to the knockout round before being eliminated in a match with his Voice roommate, DeAndre Nico.
Jake calls DeAndre “one of the coolest people I’ve ever met” in the same post — called Gratitude. He says being on The Voice was “the coolest experience of my entire life.”
The new single is hardly Jake’s first release. He put out a five-track EP called “Orange and Blue” earlier this year and his most popular song on Spotify, with more than 1 million streams, is a 2016 single called “Roll Like Thunder.”
Here’s the new song.
