But voting is already underway for The Voice finale.
That’s because of something the show calls cumulative voting.
When votes are tallied for the season finale, each singer will get credit for all streams of their Apple Music songs from Nov. 19 through 4 a.m. eastern time next Tuesday.
The typical vote limit applies — 10 streams per song per Apple Music account.
So if you’ve already streamed all of your favorite’s songs 10 times, there’s not much you can do until showtime Monday and new songs are available for streaming.
But if you failed to stream any of the previous songs 10 times — from Top 13 week, for instance — you can go back and catch up right now and they’ll count as votes for your favorite.
The cumulative vote total used to help determine the Season 15 champ will also include all Apple Music bonuses earned to this point, which will be a big plus for Team Blake’s Chris Kroeze.
He earned the Apple Music bonus each of the past two weeks. And that’s a big deal since it multiplies streams of the singer’s song by five for vote purposes.
In other words, an artist with 100,000 streams of his or her songs who gets the bonus receives 500,000 votes instead of 100,000. That’s a huge difference since none of the other three finalists have received an Apple Music bonus to this point.
Remember, the first two bonuses were earned by Reagan Strange, who was eliminated this week.
Of course, there will be a new Apple Music bonus up for grabs this week as well. This time around, two songs will count toward the voting. The singer with the most combined streams of his or her two songs between showtime Monday and 4 a.m. eastern time Tuesday will get the final Apple Music bonus of the season.
Did you follow that? It’s a bit complicated, so I’m embedding the relevant portions from The Voice rules page below. You can head here for the full explanation.
The bottom line is, if you failed to maximize you Apple Music streaming vote limits following past shows, you can still catch up and help your favorite.
The Voice performance finale, featuring Chris, Kirk Jay, Chevel Shepherd and Kennedy Holmes, airs Monday at 8 p.m. In past seasons, The Voice has aired a recap show at 8 p.m. Tuesday followed by the two-hour finale beginning at 9 p.m., but I haven’t seen a schedule for next week yet.
