DeAndre Nico’s controversial elimination from Season 15 of The Voice won’t soon be forgotten, especially by his fans.
But that shouldn’t detract from DeAndre’s run of impressive performances on the show, performances that saw him advance all the way to the Top 10.
Of course, The Voice coaches clearly anticipated a successful run on the show for DeAndre.
Remember, all four of them turned around for his blind audition cover of Bruno Mars’ “When I Was Your Man.”
That made DeAndre, 23 when he auditioned, one of just four singers on Season 15 to earn a four-chair turn.
Now the young man from Port Arthur, Texas, is working on post-Voice music. In fact, on Thursday, he tweeted out a photo of himself in a recorded studio with the captain, “Y’all ready.”
Here’s what DeAndre told Voice Views about his time on the show and his music moving forward.
Voice Views: Where do you see The Voice experience leading you musically? What are your musical goals / aspirations now?
DeAndre: I see my experience from The Voice leading me into more opportunities musically. My goal is to continue working on my craft and put out some music that everyone will gravitate to and love.
Voice Views: As a musician and artist, do you feel you grew/benefited as a result of the show and in what ways?
DeAndre: Most definitely. The Voice was a huge platform for me to display my craft. The whole world was able to see me and the exposure from The Voice is insane. So I believe I definitely benefited from all the fans I’ve gained.
Voice Views: Do you envision releasing new music soon? If so, can you tell me about that? Either what you have planned or what you’d like to do? And what sound fans can expect?
DeAndre: Of course. I’m actually working on a project now that I’ll be releasing as soon as it’s finished. My music will be inspirational. I feel it’ll fit in any genre of music and everyone will be able to enjoy.
Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?
DeAndre: My knockout round I sang “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes. It’s my favorite performance because I feel it was my best performance. My voice was in perfect condition. After that performance I had laryngitis and I feel my voice wasn’t the same since that, but I pushed through nevertheless.
