Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon auditioned for American Idol Season 17.
Back in January, he moved out of his parent’s home, started a new church job and came out to his church staff “without threat of being fired or discriminated against in any way.”
He’s about to celebrate another milestone. He’s one of the artist who auditioned for Season 17 of American Idol.
Here’s more about Jeremiah:
* He was born in Alexandria, La., but moved around frequently while growing up because of his father’s job as a preacher.
* In one interview, he says he grew up listening to Christian music. “Once I had access to the internet, I found all kinds of cool stuff,” he said. “I couldn’t get enough of Mahalia Jackson and Jeff Buckley.”
* As a musician, he’s performed as Jeremiah Harmon, Lloyd Harmon and as Ra-K35H (Rakesh). More recently, he’s been releasing music as Baltimore-based Jeremiah Lloyd Harmon
* He attended Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va., for a while and is featured on two songs on a 2018 album released by the LU Praise team.
* Jeremiah released a four-song, self-titled, jazz-infused EP in 2017. He followed it up last year with a single called “Learn to Love.”
* He’s also an abstract artist and created the cover artwork for both of those releases.
* Here’s what he said about the importance of music in his life in a 2017 interview: “I’ve always felt the most freedom to express myself through singing. I would say in general, I’m a pretty reserved person, so I just save up all my creative expression through singing. That’s my main outlet. I find a lot of release in that.”
