Koryn won the BMA for Gospel Song of the Year for her debut single, “Won’t He Do It.”
The 21-year-old was also nominated for Gospel Artist of the Year and Gospel Album of the Year. Those awards went to Tasha Cobbs Leonard and Tori Kelly, respectively.
“Won’t He Do It” spent most of 2018 embedded at number one on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart.
In fact, so long that Koryn wound up setting a record for consecutive weeks at the top of that chart for a female artist.
Her reaction to the BMA win?
She took to Instagram to thank her team with the RCA Inspiration label. She also thanked #TeamKoryn, the fans who have been with her since she finished fourth on Season 8 of The Voice.
She called #TeamKoryn “the original team who has been down and has supported and uplifted me from day one!
“I don’t care what anybody says, it’s very clear that God is doing something in this season and not just for me but for ANY willing vessel!” she wrote. “So you can either join the fight or continue to talk about it — either way the devil is ALREADY defeated. #VictoryIsMine”
