Fans of the show surely know by now that Adam Levine is out and Gwen Stefani is in.
The Voice announced this week that the show will return on Monday, Sept. 23.
And filming of the blind auditions will begin Monday. three months before the first episode airs.
But we don’t know the answers to the most important questions.
Will the show bring back that laughably ridiculous format from Season 16?
Or will the lowest ratings in the show’s history convince producers that changes are needed?
I think most fans will agree: Changes are needed. Very badly.
Producers can start by getting rid of the highly unpopular cross battles.
They absolutely have to restore the two weeks of finals cut from Season 16.
Going from a Top 13 to a champ in three weeks is beyond ridiculous for any singing show that wants to be taken seriously.
I’d do away with the Comeback Stage, the block, the instant save and lots of saves and steals as well.
Then again, I prefer singing over gimmicks in my singing shows.
When will we find out what changes are in store for Season 17? Don’t hold your breath.
But with blind auditions starting Monday, contestants deserve to know what rules they’ll be competing under before they step on stage and have to select a coach.
