Levi Watkins, just 14 when he auditioned, was the youngest contestant on Season 18 of The Voice.

But his time on the show ended in the knockout round episode that aired Monday.

Pitted against Joei Fulco, he performed Waylon Jennings’ “I Ain’t Living Long Like This.”

The coaches praised his performance, but Blake Shelton named Joei winner of the battle, ending Levi’s journey on the show.

Levi, from Birmingham, Ala., performed “Hey Soul Sister” to land a spot on Team Blake in the blinds; then won a battle round match with Jamal Corrie. They performed “Counting Stars.”

Here’s what Levi told Voice Views about his time on the show.

Voice Views: What do you consider your biggest takeaway / lesson learned from The Voice experience?

Levi: Performance, and learning how to be most comfortable on the stage.

Voice Views: Which was your favorite Voice performance and why?

Levi: The last performance, Ain’t Living Long Like This. I had the most fun, and I was playing guitar while I sang.

Voice Views: What are your post-Voice plans musically? Where are you hoping this opportunity leads?

Levi: I hope that I can release my own music, and I hope that I can use this platform for that music.

Voice Views: Do you have plans to release new music? If so, what can you tell us about that?

Levi: Yes, I do not know when I will do it, but I have a couple songs that I know I want to release soon.

Voice Views: Is there anything else you’d like to add about The Voice experience?

Levi: It was an extremely important learning experience that taught me about performance, other musicians and taking care of my voice. It also allowed me to meet so many other musicians that I can learn from.

No question that Blake totally blew it when he turned his back on Levi.
