Fans of The Voice should remember Midas Whale from Season 4.
The duo of Ryan Hayes and former American Idol finalist Jon Peter Lewis made it to the knockout round before being knocked off the show.
A year later, they’ve lost none of their sense of humor.
Tuesday, they released their first album — “Sugar House.”
Critics are proclaiming it the “Album of the Year” hails their website, with a small notation that reads “My Mom.”
Over on Facebook, they reassure us that “no whales were harmed in the recording of this album.”
Remember, these are the guys who say they auditioned for The Voice “because they heard Kate Middleton watches it and they want to co-marry her.”
Here’s the best news: Ryan and Jon Peter also haven’t lost their knack for creating catchy tunes in a folk, singer-songwriter style.
“Howling at the Moon” (embedded below) was the first song unveiled. “My Father’s Son” (also embedded below) is a highlight. “Before I Leave” makes for an enticing album-opener.
For those who don’t remember way back to Season 3 of American Idol, Jon Peter Lewis placed eighth that year. After Idol, he released two albums — “Stories from Hollywood” (2006) and “Break the Silence” (2008) — and a 2010 EP as a solo artist.
He and Ryan turned four chairs on The Voice with their rendition of “Folsom Prison Blues.”
After the show, they launched a successful KickStarter campaign to help fund “Sugar House.”
Now, the promised videos.
