Idols on the Music Chart

A debut for Lee DeWyze, another #1 for Phillip

Lee DeWyze just found out it’s tough to beat the advantage of releasing an album on a major label just months after having won American Idol.

Lee released his second post-Idol album two weeks ago. Three of the first four songs on “Frames” are probably better than anything on “Live It Up,” his post-Idol debut.

Lee DeWyze's "Frames" debuted at 116 on the Billboard 200.

Lee DeWyze’s “Frames” debuted at 116 on the Billboard 200.

But “Frames” debuted at number 116 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.

“Live It Up” was considered a flop when it debuted at number 23 on the same chart back in 2010.

Hopefully, more folks will give “Frames” a chance. It’s worth a listen, and closer to the music Lee was releasing pre-Idol than “Live It Up” was.

Heck, the deluxe version includes a second full album of all the “Frames’ tracks performed acoustically.

On a brighter chart note, Phillip Phillips just scored another number one.

His second single, “Gone, Gone, Gone” is now sitting atop Billboard’s adult contemporary chart.

The song is also still in the top 10 on the rock songs and adult pop songs chart and is sitting at its peak position of 24 on the Hot 100.

All that even as Phillip just released his third single, “Where We Came From,” a song he co-wrote.

Here’s a complete look at the chart rundown from last week.
